Oliver Wonekha is a Ugandan politician and diplomat, who serves as Uganda’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Rwanda, since 2017. She previously served as the country’s Ambassador to the United States of America, from 2013, until 2017. She also served as a country legislator during the eighth parliament (2001–2006) and also served in that capacity in the 9th parliament (2006–2011).

During her tenure as a member of parliament, she served in various committees including; Member of Executive Committee and Uganda delegate to the African Parliamentary Union (APU), Member and Uganda delegate of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Member of the Forum on Peace, AMANI among others.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons) and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Makerere University Kampala.

Ambassador Wonekha worked as a teacher before joining the Coffee Marketing Board in 1980 as a coffee quality controller.

She later worked with various Coffee Export Companies in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda from 1994-2000 in different capacities before attaining the position of General Manager of Tancof Ltd Bukoba-Tanzania.

She has served as a member of Mbale District Service Commission, Member Board of Directors Uganda Coffee Development Board, Member National Governing Council for National Agricultural Research Organization, Member National Advisory Council for The Hunger Project-Uganda, and still a member of the Advisory board: Next Gen Cassava Project conducted by National Agricultural Research Organization Uganda and Cornell University USA.

Ambassador Wonekha is a proud mother of three daughters. She loves working with poor communities especially women in support of their livelihoods.
